Different methods of inking and wiping a plate can produce quite different outcomes. Here, I have used the ‘dolly inking’ method to introduce colour. Traditionally, small balls of scrim would be used to ink up separate parts of a plate in different colours. Each colour would be wiped before introducing a new colour so that the colours did not ‘bleed’ into each other. There has been some ‘bleeding’ on the plates below but I think that, whether it works or not, is a matter of judgement and taste.
