I graduated in Social Sciences and subsequently had a career in Universities as a teacher and researcher. I was a Professor at the Universities of Southampton and Manchester and have also chaired a number of public bodies, particularly in healthcare, the NHS and the law. I retired in 2013 and I currently live in Clerkenwell, London.
Over the last 8 years I have developed a great interest in Prints and Printmaking and in Book Arts. It started with a one day event at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge run by Curwen Press and since then I have been studying Printmaking at City Lit and Morley College in London and West Dean in Sussex. In 2016, I completed the two year City Lit Fine Art course. I have also taken bookbinding and textiles classes. In October 2017 I started the MA in Visual Arts (Book Arts) at the University of the Arts, London based at Camberwell College of Art.
I particularly enjoy etching using both hard and soft grounds and aquatint, as well as monoprinting with rollers and printing ink. I am interested in different techniques for capturing variations in tone and texture and have been experimenting with hand aquatints and non toxic applications. I also enjoy working with textiles, particularly wool.
This website illustrates some of my work and information about exhibitions and events which I have enjoyed.
